OAC Holds 1st World AIDS Day Leadership Conference

World Aids Day OAC information packet.

Every year on December 1st, the world comes together for World AIDS Day— a day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. This day is especially dear to us due to our good friends at the Ohio AIDS Coalition.

The Ohio AIDS Coalition (OAC) is a non-profit, statewide membership organization providing education, leadership training, advocacy, and support for people living with HIV/AIDS. Ever year we help the OAC promote their largest event, the OAC Leadership Conference, but this year was extra special because on November 16th to the 17th we were able to help the OAC hold their first 2009 World AIDS Day Leadership Conference.

Conducting 40 workshops and 4 plenary sessions, the conference offered participants numerous educational opportunities regarding all aspects of HIV prevention, care and treatment. Partnering with numerous state and non-profit organizations, the OAC reached out to 459 participants, bringing the HIV/AIDS community together for one day, spreading awareness, and making the 2009 Conference a major success.
