Here at Origo, we are very excited for the opening of the newest local coffee shop to hit Historic Dublin, Java Jan Gourmet Coffee. With a dream to own her own coffee shop, owner Janet Antauer came to us in need of an engaging interior design that was functional and warm, creating an atmosphere that would be synonymous to her brand. Little did she know, President and Creative Principal, Tommaso Ciaffoncini, has a strong history and passion for interior design.
Starting with measurements and specs, Tommaso began creating sketches and studying different patterns and materials. It wasn’t long before Java Jan Gourmet Coffee was a reality.
Now serving the happy patrons of Dublin and beyond, Java Jan Gourmet Coffee is as comforting and warm as the owner behind the counter. Through creating a culture of friendliness and neighborly care, it truly is love at first sip.
Stop in for hot cup! Located next to the Our Cupcakery, you can find Java Jan at 16 N High Street in Dublin. (Phone: 614-284-3178)

The Holiday Season is one of our most favorite times of the year for many reasons! Downtown Columbus is filled with cheer, the city is illuminated, and we get another chance to create fun, creative holiday promotions!

With that in mind, we illustrated a whimsical campaign, highlighting different parts of the world at this time of year. With each holiday scenario, we wish “Happy Holidays” in a different language, while hiding the Origo “nebula” logo somewhere in the design.

Can you find our logo? Come by and check out our environmental graphics. And from everyone at Origo Branding Company— Happy Holidays!
Last November, Origo President, Tommaso Ciaffoncini, and I spoke to the Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Alison Circle, about the Importance of Branding. Our conversation was recently posted on Ms. Circle’s blog, The Bubble Room— a blog about library marketing. Check it out and let us know what you think!

Every year on December 1st, the world comes together for World AIDS Day— a day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. This day is especially dear to us due to our good friends at the Ohio AIDS Coalition.
The Ohio AIDS Coalition (OAC) is a non-profit, statewide membership organization providing education, leadership training, advocacy, and support for people living with HIV/AIDS. Ever year we help the OAC promote their largest event, the OAC Leadership Conference, but this year was extra special because on November 16th to the 17th we were able to help the OAC hold their first 2009 World AIDS Day Leadership Conference.
Conducting 40 workshops and 4 plenary sessions, the conference offered participants numerous educational opportunities regarding all aspects of HIV prevention, care and treatment. Partnering with numerous state and non-profit organizations, the OAC reached out to 459 participants, bringing the HIV/AIDS community together for one day, spreading awareness, and making the 2009 Conference a major success.

Halloween this year, like every year, was a blast. We loved seeing everyone’s great costumes and wicked cool make-up. There were definitely a few highlights from the web and around town. Even everyone at the office had a great costume idea. Most notably was Senior Art Director Anthony Mosca dressing up as Eddie Munster. We’ll let the photo of him speak for itself.
This year was especially fun for costumes. We saw a lot of people breaking away from the typical Vampire or Zombie and really going for nostalgic childhood or classic movie characters. Designer Ryan Brinkerhoff pulled out a relic of an old WB cartoon character, Freakazoid. Not familiar? The cartoon was only on for two seasons. Here’s a link to the intro as a refresher. Marketing Manager Alessandro Ciaffoncini put a twist on Elvis and Designer Chris Barr went as a dance crew or workers’ comp victims, depending on how you view the bloodied painters suits.

Left to Right: Alessandro and his friend, Ryan and friend.

Chris and friends.
By far the most notable and popular costume from the web was Pixel Girl. That’s right winning over the hearts of designers everywhere, this girl dressed up in attire that gave the impression she was zoomed in so far she was pixelated. This actual transforming Bumble Bee, from Transformers, costume is amazing. Another notable was the Comedian from this year’s release of The Watchmen.
Thank you all for your wonderful costumes this year. We look forward to seeing more next year. See all the best this year captured below. Let us know what you think, with your comments, below as well.

It’s true. Being downtown, and in this case, right down the street from City Center, all of us at Origo Branding Company can see the landscape changing daily and it’s making way for exciting new transformations. City Center, once the gem of downtown Columbus, has been a big question mark for some time. And once it finally closed and moved to Capital South ownership in 2007, work began to find a solution for the 9-acre plot of land. So many have had ideas for the land, such as pulling in IKEA, Target or retail as it once was and these options have all been tested. But none of the ideas has proven to be viable.
So, we are now on our way to having a fabulous urban park, Columbus Commons. Not only will it have pebblestone walkways, Riviera seating, a grove and a grassy area but it will also offer the possibility of building offices or condos on the perimeters – and all by the end of next year. The design comes from the same people who revamped the very cool Bryant Park in NYC and the best part is that, because it will be built on top of the 950-spot City Center underground parking lot, it will always remain a park – for structural reasons!
Take a hike to the southern end of downtown and check out the demolition. City Center has already been partially gutted (very strange) and the E. Rich Street side is showing major exterior demolition.
There’s so much to remove but just the thought of what’s to come, should make us all giddy with excitement!

Origo Branding Company has just completed a re-brand of Abbott Nutrition’s Tube Feeding at Home Booklet — a 32-page publication that is targeted at children and adults who have traditional feeding difficulties and rely on liquid nutrition as a source of protein. The booklet is distributed to people who must make the adjustment to liquid nutrition and need easy-to-understand information regarding the process of tube feeding, preventing infections, and problem management. With Abbott’s line of tube feeding liquids, pumps, and specialized feeding tubes, they wanted to make sure that the information not only introduced tube feeding and its process, but also provide informative illustrations to be used as visual aides. Working closely with the Abbott Nutrition team, Origo was responsible for writing the copy contents and the full re-branding direction. The booklet has been successful and is already in need ofbeing reprinted due to high demand.
Origo used photography to show the mobility and freedom one can have with specialized pumps and their carrying devices. Model selection and photo direction by the Origo team ensured that the images represented daily scenarios that tube feeding users encounter at home. Photos of pumps in the home setting were used to demonstrate that users can tube feed in the comfort of their own homes. Spot illustrations were created to demonstrate usages for tube feeding specific syringes and to provide overviews of equipment maintenance.

This was a rewarding project in that we had the opportunity to create a resource that will inform people making the shift to tube feeding an easier transition to understand. See more of our great client work.

Origo Branding Company just published the latest issue of NextSpace magazine — an OCLC publication sent to libraries worldwide. OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) is a nonprofit, membership, computer library service dedicated to the public purposes of furthering access to the world’s information. More than 57,000 libraries around the world use OCLC services to locate, acquire, catalog, lend and preserve library materials. This tri-annual publication introduces new technology and keeps librarians, and library patrons, in the loop of constantly emerging information resources.
The Ripple Effect, cover story of this latest issue, highlights how libraries are extending their reach to increase traffic to their resources. And, in fact, this fascinating feature article showcases specific libraries around the world that have brought the library to the people, emphasizing the overall mission of OCLC.
It was interesting, on our part, to create the illustrations for The Ripple Effect, where we meshed water and communication to cover the subject matter.
We start on Issue 14 soon, continuing with the theme of new ways to reach out to library goers. Check out previous publication designs Origo has provided for NextSpace starting with Issue 6 at http://www.oclc.org/nextspace/default.htm.

Helping out the community has always been our most rewarding work, especially when we have the opportunity to touch others’ lives directly. Last week, Origo Branding company was pleased to have the opportunity to help the downtown Columbus community get a little healthier, a little happier and a little tastier. Origo Vice President, Diana Ciaffoncini, spends her Fridays volunteering at Dress for Success, a nonprofit organization that assists disadvantaged women with ongoing support as they successfully transition into the workforce. Throughout her time there, she noticed the women who had just made their transition into the workplace were eating-out exclusively, a very expensive and unhealthy way to start a new life. Diana decided to battle this emerging problem and create a solution for her friends and clients.
With a big heart and an even bigger pantry, Diana took her knowledge and experience in the kitchen, and compiled some of her favorite recipes into a short cooking handbook titled Slow Down & Cook. With dishes like Hawaiian Porkchops and Fabulous Fish, Diana shares some delicious (and affordable) recipes with the intentions of having fun while you cook. With these goals in mind, Origo Branding Company was thrilled to layout and construct this little cookbook with big food ideas. It was great fun for everyone, and a few of the guys in the office were hoping there would be a few leftover books for their neglected kitchen counters at home.
Presented last Saturday at the latest DFS meeting, Diana presented the books and was greeted with great reception. The women celebrated Diana’s positive methods of affordable, fun ways to eat healthier, as well as cheered for the delicious cheesecake Diana provided. Check out more great client work.
