Foundation for Appalachian Ohio Strategy - New Website
The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) provides a structure through which charitable giving is turned into meaningful and lasting investment in the individuals, institutions, and ideas that create opportunities and advance flourishing within the 32-counties that reside in the Appalachian Ohio region.
As FAO evolved its services, programs, and offerings for the community, they partnered with Origo Branding to help create a new website that elevated the organization’s new messaging to better connect with its different audiences.

Discovery & Research
In order to identify and understand the perceptions of the current site as well as the goals for messaging, audiences, and features and functionality of the new site, Origo conducted strategic discussions, an online survey and one-on-one interviews with key stakeholders of FAO to gather their insights and considerations for the development of the new site. This research identified which information needed to be more predominant and how to structure the new site to optimize the user experience.
Utilizing the findings and insights from the discovery phase, Origo developed a site architecture, as well as web design and naming concepts. After thorough review, FAO selected the concept titled Every Gift You Give, as it was thought that this approach would demonstrate the organization’s mission of amplifying all different types of charitable giving into meaningful and lasting impact for Appalachian Ohio.

Website Strategy
Origo crafted the look and feel for the site to be informative yet welcoming. From there, Origo developed the site, making sure that the new experience was compatible with various devices and responsive, leading to a better user experience and more effective Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The new website included:
-
Integrated Sub-Site Functionality: Created a unifying system within the main site that generated cohesive sub-sites for the 15 Affiliates to utilize to promote their own funds, grants, and scholarship opportunities, as well as the background of their organization.
- Interconnected News Feed: Developed a news feed for the main site while also automatically populating relevant news stories to the applicable Affiliate sub-site.
- Custom Funds List: An automated system that allows for the various funds available to be filtered based on the county, category of interest, and/or one of FAOs Pillars of Prosperity.

Website Launch
Before launching the site, Origo conducted an SEO audit and refined the back-end of the site to have optimal performance. Origo also led a training for the FAO team on how to manage the site so that the team was prepared to maintain and update the site with new information, allowing the site to continue to evolve along with the organization. This preparation allowed for a successful launch of the new brand website.
