Ohio for Responsible Gambling Wins Awards on National Stage

August 2, 2023

Last week, Origo was honored to join Ohio for Responsible Gambling and its partners from around the state in Washington D.C. at the 2023 National Conference on Gambling Addiction and Responsible Gambling. This conference, hosted by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), allows thought leaders and experts from around the nation to come together to share their expertise and recognize outstanding work in the field.

We are proud to announce that our work with Ohio for Responsible Gambling and the Get Set Before You Bet campaign was awarded with three awards, receiving recognition for the 2023 Corporate Public Awareness Award, the 2023 Media Award, and the 2023 Corporate People’s Choice Award!

The 2023 Corporate Public Awareness Award recognized the Ohio Problem Gambling Helpline Campaign, titled Make the Call, which featured testimonials of real Ohioans who are in recovery. This multi-channel campaign was recognized for helping to reduce the stigma around asking for help, while also successfully connecting at-risk individuals and their loved ones to the support they may need.

Through earned media efforts with Irvin PR, the story of Steve Kapela on WNWO-TV Toledo, titled “Former gambler bringing awareness to problem gambling month” was awarded the 2023 Media Award, which recognizes an outstanding piece of original reporting on problem gambling. Finally, Pause Before You Play, a sub-campaign of our main responsible gambling campaign for the state of Ohio, titled Get Set Before You Bet, was voted best print campaign and creative strategy amongst 500+ attendees, earning it the 2023 Corporate People’s Choice Award for its ability to create awareness around the risks of sports betting and provide tips on how to bet responsibly.

Lastly, Origo’s President, Alessandro Ciaffoncini, was honored to present during two sessions at the National Conference alongside many of the thought leaders and experts from Ohio, showcasing the collaborative work of generating various campaigns that target diverse audiences.

It was an honor to see the important work of Ohio for Responsible Gambling recognized on a national level alongside subject matter experts in the world of prevention, treatment, and recovery. We are eager to continue creating work that spreads awareness and elevates the mission of Ohio for Responsible Gambling alongside our many partners throughout the state that help make this work possible.
