As a leading managed care organization (MCO), AmeriHealth Caritas provides some of the country’s highest-rated Medicaid managed care plans. Across its 40-plus-year history, it has been consistently awarded for its excellence and innovation. When Ohio mandated new Medicaid standards, AmeriHealth Caritas and a coalition of six other Medicaid providers partnered with Origo to create an online Diabetes Care Hub and prevention campaign, creating a one-stop destination for helping healthcare providers learn and implement the latest standards in diabetes care to help improve outcomes for Ohioans who may be at risk. As part of the new statewide standards, AmeriHealth Caritas needed to give Ohio healthcare providers access to an extensive library of resources, including answers to common diabetes questions, workflows for healthcare practices, and resources to help clinical providers assist patients. To establish a consistent brand and messaging strategy, Origo conducted discovery exercises and conceptual directions. That process led to creating the Diabetes Care Hub web experience and campaign strategy, uniting all resources into one easy-to-use online toolkit designed for busy healthcare professionals.

For the Diabetes Care Hub online experience, Origo developed a site architecture that could support the needs of diverse audiences. This helped the site provide clear pathways to three priority topics, each with a dedicated landing page with general information and links to related resources, which users can filter by audience and category. By prioritizing simplicity, the site architecture ensures wide-ranging healthcare professionals – from billing staff to healthcare educators to nurses – can quickly find the resources they need to improve diabetes outcomes.

Origo’s design team created a visual style emphasizing trust and simplicity to bring the microsite and online toolkit to life. We paired big images with bold color blocks to create distinct, digestible modules. Accent lines and thoughtful color shades add depth and contrast, drawing the eye to critical information. The result is a smooth, intuitive user experience that guides users through the site to exactly what they’re looking for.
To drive awareness, Origo created and implemented outreach strategies and tactics to connect healthcare professionals to our online toolkit for the Diabetes Care Hub. This site gave them access to a collection of prewritten fliers, LinkedIn posts, and newsletters that healthcare professionals can quickly integrate into their organization’s communications or their personal communications, making it easy to amplify these valuable resources across provider networks.

By equipping healthcare providers with diverse resources all in one place, an effortless user experience, and built-in promotional tools, the Diabetes Care Hub continues to help ensure Ohio patients receive the best diabetes care possible as we continue to work with AmeriHealth Caritas in expanding this work to create more resources and support strategies to improve outcomes and education across Ohio.
