Great Libraries Create Capital Campaign

Great Libraries Create Capital Campaign - Columbus Metropolitan Library

Since 1907, the mission of Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) has been too inspire reading, share resources, and connect people. With a vision of creating a thriving community where wisdom prevails, the Library has grown to over 20 branches. To help expand its mission and advance the way it serves the community, Columbus Metropolitan Library partnered with Origo Branding to help create the brand strategy for their new Capital Campaign, which helped to raise $120 million to revamp 10 of their 21 branches within Central Ohio.

Origo conducted research exercises with internal stakeholders and the donor community to help develop a conceptual design and messaging approach for a new fundraising brochure, as well as other campaign materials. These tools offered an educational approach to the initiative’s background, while also including inspiring messages of the impact someone can make for such a powerful cause, all leading to development and growth for the City of Columbus.

Origo also worked with the leadership team to create a powerful call to action for their upcoming capital campaign that positioned the CML as a partner to the community and its donors, showing appreciation for partners and other advocates of the Columbus community.

After testing the campaign concepts, the new brand strategy was titled Great Libraries Create, which helped to build awareness for their new Vision Plan and engage Central Ohio’s leading donors to donate major investments toward the redevelopment of 10 branches within their network.

Through the creation of the Great Libraries Create capital campaign, we reminded people that libraries help create stronger communities, access to technology, foundations for success, and economic opportunity. As a final result, CML surpassed its campaign goal of $120 million, allowing them to rebuild or revamp 10 of its 21 branches, creating new facilities and resources that will serve the many populations of Central Ohio for years to come.
