Montgomery County ADAMHS Board Safe Homes Campaign

Montgomery County ADAMHS Board Safe Homes Campaign - Montgomery County ADAMHS Board

Origo and Montgomery County Prevention Coalition (MCPC) partnered together to create the Safe Homes Campaign, a program designed to educate parents and caregivers in Montgomery County about ways that they can create a safer and healthier home environment for their children, as well as prepare their children to demonstrate safe choices, decisions, and behaviors in other people’s homes. We created a branded approach to our campaign, which was applied to a suite of marketing assets and online experiences, making our information and calls to action accessible to all levels of the community.

After conducting research exercises, Origo developed multiple campaign concepts, which led to the creative direction titled Your Actions Are Louder, emphasizing how parents’ and caregivers’ behavior in the home has the potential to impact their child’s health and development, either positively or negatively. This was especially imperative in regard to key prevention topics like alcohol and marijuana, opioids, gambling, sexual violence, and suicide.

Once the Your Actions Are Louder concept was selected, Origo got to work establishing a creative strategy and messaging system to disseminate this important message to the public. It started with tactical assets like email templates, paid social ads, a PowerPoint presentation, and more. This also included a digital media strategy to drive traffic to a new campaign website, which allowed audiences to further engage with the campaign. The resulting microsite was a modern and engaging online experience where parents and caregivers could go to learn about the issue, engage in prevention efforts, access a free resource toolkit, and more.

Once launching this campaign, Origo and the Montgomery ADAMHS Board realized a major goal of this initiative, which was to encourage community members to show their commitment to youth health by taking the Safe Home Pledge. They were able to do so through a custom online and print form that parents were able to “take the pledge” to demonstrate healthy behaviors, driving the community towards positive change and outcomes. In return, MCPC sent pledgers incentive pieces like stickers and decals, making the campaign a highly visible and successful project.
