SWACO Save More Than Food Campaign - Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio
SWACO partnered with Origo to create a campaign that educates the general public about the reality of food waste, while providing everyday tips around how they can reduce food waste in their home. The campaign also provides resources to help schools, businesses, and restaurants to reduce food waste within their organization, as well as offer ways to partner on our campaign to educate their students, customers, and patrons about this important issue.

Origo conducted research exercises with community leaders and the general public to assess insights around the perceptions, awareness, and attitudes around food waste, educating our team on what factors might motivate an individual to engage in our campaign mission.
From our findings, we developed and launched the Save More Than Food campaign through an awareness campaign, which drove different audiences to the main campaign website, SaveMoreThanFood.org.
The site provides resources, messaging, and tips for reducing food waste for different segments of the community, as well as includes PSAs, print advertising, and customizable social media assets that partnering organizations can use in their outreach.Watch Campaign PSA
The final step was launching a media campaign that introduced Save More Than Food to the general public through print, broadcast, digital, and environmental strategies. These tactics were not only utilized by our media campaign with SWACO, but also by partnering community organizations, resulting in over 8 million impressions in 2020 and over 17 million impressions in 2021.
Through this robust media strategy, the Save More Than Food campaign exceeded all goals for digital engagement and impressions, helping SWACO move forward in its goal to cut Central Ohio food waste in half by 2030.Visit Campaign Website
