The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy has led the way in pharmacy education, practice, and research since 1885. Its esteemed program ranks first in the state and fourth in the nation among all schools of pharmacy, according to U.S. News & World Report.

To help further its position as a leading education research institute in the field, help grow awareness for its many offerings, and drive engagement around recruitment and enrollment, the College of Pharmacy team partnered with Origo Branding to create a new online experience.

Origo started by conducting in-depth research and discovery exercises with the college department leads, identifying the vision and goals for the new site, defining content structure for its different sections, and determining how we want different users to utilize the online experience. We also worked to define how the new design and user experience can differentiate itself from competing programs around the nation, all while aligning with the brand guidelines of The Ohio State University.

From insights gathered in our discovery phases, Origo developed different conceptual approaches for our new, rich, and in-depth online experience. Each approach demonstrated how we can utilize modern and intuitive design practices to enhance the college’s positioning and leverage messaging and navigation systems that provide individuals with easier access to their intended information and goals.

The new site enhanced the user experience by allowing users to easily achieve their unique goals of applying for a program, learning about an educational initiative, applying for a position, or engaging in one of the many ways to get involved with the college. ADA compliance and user accessibility remained a top priority throughout development, improving how students, faculty and staff members, researchers, and partners interact with the site.

The new site was built using the Drupal Content Management System, which made it easy for the different college teams to update and edit the site’s content and pages and allowed the team to grow the site independently in the future. Furthermore, Origo collaborated with the technology team at OSU to ensure our development approach with Drupal fit in with their university guidelines and standards.

Origo enjoyed working with OSU to create a dynamic new online experience. It allowed the College of Pharmacy to re-introduce its online presence, create more intuitive ways to educate and engage potential students in enrolling in their programs, and engage current and existing stakeholders to utilize the site to its fullest potential. We look forward to seeing how the site continues to evolve to help the OSU further its positioning within the field for years to come as it prepares more individuals to become world-class pharmacy professionals.
