How Video Storytelling Expanded the Safe Homes Campaign
October 21, 2026
When addressing sensitive prevention topics such as substance use, firearm storage, and social media safety, finding the right balance in your messaging is essential. Lecturing or relying on fear tactics often leads audiences to tune out. Instead, creating real, lasting change requires meeting parents and caregivers where they are with approachable, actionable guidance.
That was the core objective when our team at Origo partnered with the Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board to launch the next evolution of their public health initiative: the Montgomery County ADAMHS Safe Homes Video Extension Campaign.
Building on Your Actions Are Louder
Building on the foundation of the original Safe Homes initiative, ADAMHS asked Origo to expand the campaign’s reach and bring its core mission to life through a dynamic, video-first strategy.
Anchored in the overarching creative theme, “Your Actions Are Louder,” our goal was to show parents how everyday choices at home directly shape a child’s health and safety. To make complex topics approachable, we turned to custom 2D and 3D animation. Animation served as a powerful storytelling tool, allowing us to illustrate sensitive scenarios with warmth and clarity while showing parents practical steps they can take today.
Versatile Content for Maximum Reach
To ensure the messaging performed effectively across digital advertising, social media, and community outreach, Origo developed a multi-format video toolkit:
- Short-Form Videos: High-impact, bite-sized clips designed to capture attention on social media feeds and drive immediate awareness.
- Long-Form Videos: In-depth, narrative-driven explainer pieces providing step-by-step context for parents looking for deeper guidance.
This dual approach gave ADAMHS an adaptable asset library capable of engaging audiences at every stage of the awareness journey.
Breaking Barriers Through Multilingual Outreach
Authentic community impact requires inclusivity. Montgomery County is home to vibrant, diverse populations, making language access a top priority. Origo adapted and produced the campaign in three key languages: English, Spanish, and Swahili.
Rather than relying on literal translations, we culturally adapted the messaging so that each language version felt natural, conversational, and deeply respectful of every family’s lived experience.
Real Impact for Real Homes
By combining data-driven messaging, custom animation, and multilingual accessibility, the Safe Homes campaign successfully evolved from a foundational initiative into a living, community-wide resource.
